Kikusaburo Miyamatsu | 宮松喜久三郎
Proprietor and Artist of Ryougan-ya (両岸屋)
Since 2023, he has been engaged in the creation of ukiyo-e prints, as well as traditional Japanese hariko (papier-mâché) dolls and masks using time-honored techniques.
His ukiyo-e works include both hand-painted originals and printed reproductions based on digital designs.
Note: Traditional ukiyo-e, widely known from the Edo period, consists of two main types—mass-produced woodblock prints and unique hand-painted artworks.
As opposed to the fully manual traditional process which has become too labor-intensive in today’s conditions, Ryougan-ya offers prints produced using modern printing methods, to capture the spirit of how ukiyo-e originated as accessible art produced in large numbers.
