Nagao Noodle Factory

Mr. Nagao is not only an inventor who creates noodles that can be found nowhere else in the world, but also once was the owner of a udon restaurant that became so popular it had a two-hour wait every day and has even been featured in the Michelin Guide. Whenever I bring an artist to visit, he takes plenty of time to give them a tour of his noodle factory, showing them parts of his collection related to their interests, or even helping photographers find the perfect shooting locations. He actively enjoys deep and meaningful exchanges with his visitors. For artists (and probably even for most Japanese people outside the art world), having a master noodle maker personally guide them through his factory and share his deep and broad knowledge is an incredibly inspiring experience. Ukiha is full of passionate and fascinating people like Mr. Nagao. We feel that Omnicent has become a truly unique kind of residency by connecting artists with this community.
